The End... the Beginning
I guess we should be ending this Blog as the Ebners Berlin Adventure is officially over. True we are still working a few tax issues (arghhh) other assorted loose ends back in Germany but we are now officially moved to Rochester.
We hit the ground here running and within the first two weeks we both had cars, the girls did a few weeks in day camp, we were subletting from a friend for July and found a second rental house (right next door) after that, so we had a place to put all our 'stuff' when it arrived via ship/truck. In addition, we had toured at least fifty houses to buy with our tired realtor and looked at hundreds more on line.
It was stressful for all of us, even with the help of my sister Sari and friends and family here in Rochester. I definitely wouldn't recommend such an approach to another family of our specifications, but in heinsight I must say we have been extremely lucky. (My sister is convinced that this phenomenon is well established that when you move to a new place you have a run of good luck. I guess it has been the case for us so far on our moves. you?)
So, after a weary July, we were ready to throw in the towel and rest a bit. We figured we could just stay in our second rental house for year or so and it would be fine, BUT THEN, we looked at that one last house... and it was the one.
We move in in October! Grace is registered at the local Elementery School which has three first grade classes and is a short bus ride away. Zoe will be going to Pre K at the JCC mornings and Lukas will go there too a few days a week too. We still have lots of boxes to unpack and moving in to do but I guess it is safe to say that the Berlin Adventure is over. Let the Rochester adventure begin.
